Religious Freedom Restoration Act - #13 - The Gay Marriage Wake-Up Call - American Thinker (2) Indiana Has Changed Its Religious Liberty Law. Here is What That Means - Daily Signal (3) The Case Against Gay Marriage: Top Law Firms Won't Touch It - New York Times (4) Bi Law Thinks Gay Marriage Opponents Are Like Racist Bigots, That's a Problem - Daily Signal

The Gay Marriage Wake-Up Call - Robert Oscar Lopez - American Thinker - .........Why the sudden switch from artificial procreation to religious liberty? After three years of intense immersion in family politics (and I mean intense), I have noticed that gay-marriage supporters always want to debate religious liberty. You can and should engage them on the topic of religious liberty, but be aware that they are usually thinking that you are playing into their hands when you do. We must know our enemy and what our enemy wants to sweep under the rug. And the “enemy” in this case is a hyper-analytical Hydra more often than not using reverse psychology and other ruses to trick us. As nasty as you have seen the left acting toward Christian conservatives this last week, in truth, they are far more gracious toward people who object to marriage on religious grounds than they are toward people who object to marriage because they care about children’s rights.  I’ve been all around the world fighting for children’s rights to a mother and father, and I’ve seen the same tactics from Italy to Palo Alto. Read more..........  This is a very informative article about this subject, learn more about recent studies that show gay marriage may not benefit children, and what is going on in the legal world regarding this issue that is before the Supreme Court.

(2) Indiana Has Changed Its Religious Liberty Law.  Here is What That Means - Daily Signal -  At a press conference in the Indiana Statehouse Thursday morning, Senate President Pro Tem David Long, R-Fort Wayne, and House Speaker Brian Bosma, R-Indianapolis, announced a proposed “fix” to their religious liberty law. The religious liberty law is good policy. It needs no “fix.” And the proposed “fix” amounts to nothing less than a wholesale repeal of the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act with respect to those who need religious liberty protections the most. (3) The Case Against Gay Marriage: Top Law Firms Won't Touch It - New York Times - The stacks of Supreme Court briefs filed on both sides of the same-sex marriage cases to be heard this month are roughly the same height. But they are nonetheless lopsided: There are no major law firms urging the justices to rule against gay marriage. Leading law firms are willing to represent tobacco companies accused of lying about their deadly products, factories that spew pollution, and corporations said to be complicit in torture and murder abroad. But standing up for traditional marriage has turned out to be too much for the elite bar. The arguments have been left to members of lower-profile firms. Read more.......

(4) Big Law Thinks Gay Marriage Opponents Are Like Racist  Bigots.  That's a Problem - Daily Signal - Sunday’s New York Times stated plainly what many of us have known for a while: Our nation’s elites are intolerant of ordinary Americans. The reporter for the Times revealed a startling reality: “In dozens of interviews, lawyers and law professors said the imbalance in legal firepower in the same-sex marriage cases resulted from a conviction among many lawyers that opposition to such unions is bigotry akin to racism.  Read  more.......

#12 - Barack Obama - Israel: Beware of Obama - Michael Goodwin - NY Post

Israel: Beware of Obama - Michael Goodwin - NY Post - First he comes for the banks and health care, uses the IRS to go after critics, politicizes the Justice Department, spies on journalists, tries to curb religious freedom, slashes the military, throws open the borders, doubles the debt and nationalizes the Internet. He lies to the public, ignores the Constitution, inflames race relations and urges Latinos to punish Republican “enemies.” He abandons our allies, appeases tyrants, coddles adversaries and uses the Crusades as an excuse for inaction as Islamist terrorists slaughter their way across the Mideast. Now he’s coming for Israel. Barack Obama’s promise to transform America was too modest. He is transforming the whole world before our eyes. Do you see it yet? #11 - Barack Obama - Where is the Evidence that Barack Obama Loves America? - Thomas Sowell

Where is the Evidence that Barack Obama Loves America? - Thomas Sowell - The firestorm of denunciation of former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, for having said that he did not think Barack Obama loved America, is in one sense out of all proportion to that remark — especially at a time when there are much bigger issues, including wars raging, terrorist atrocities and a nuclear Iran on the horizon. Against that background of strife and dangers on the world stage, it may seem as if Obama’s feelings, or Giuliani’s opinion about those feelings, should not matter so much, especially when it is hard to know with certainty how anyone feels. Yet when someone is the leader of a great nation at a historic juncture, it is more than idle curiosity to know what drives him........... Anyone who simply looks at the factual evidence as to whether Obama loves America will find remarkably little to suggest love and a large amount of evidence, over a long period of years, showing his constant close association with people fiercely hostile to this country. Jeremiah Wright was just one in a long series of such people.  Read more..........

#10 - Internet Control - Republican FCC Commissioner: Public is Being Misled about Net Neutrality Plan (2) FCC, FEC Look to Ruin the Internet - Washington Times (3) Administration Hiding New Internet Rules - Why Can't Public See Obama's Proposed Internet Regulations? - Weekly Standard

Republican FCC Commissioner: Public is Being Misled About Net Neutrality Plan - The Federal Communications Commission is misleading the public about its 332-page plan to regulate the Internet, a Republican member of the commission said Tuesday. The net-neutrality plan could in fact open the door to new fees and taxes, as well as government control over the prices that Internet providers charge their customers, Commissioner Ajit Pai told reporters. The claims echo attacks from Republicans on Capitol Hill, who are also scrambling to thwart the new regulations. Committees in the House and Senate have launched investigations into whether President Obama inappropriately influenced the FCC's decision, and Republican lawmakers are working on their own alternative net-neutrality legislation to override FCC action. FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler, who unveiled his plan last week, has denied that it would impose new fees or regulate prices. But it's difficult to determine who is right, because the commission won't release the actual text of the regulations until after it approves them on Feb. 26. "I believe the public has a right to know what its government is doing, particularly when it comes to something as important as Internet regulation," Pai, one of two Republicans on the five-member commission, said. "I have studied the 332-page plan in detail, and it is worse than I had imagined." Read more.......

Spending Bill: CROmnibus: The $1 Trillion Betrayal - American Thinker (2) 'Fool me Twice, Shame on Me' - American Thinker

CROmnibus: The $1 Trillion Betrayal - American Thinker - Flush from an unprecedented nationwide GOP victory in this November’s elections, House and Senate GOP leadership determined that their essential first course of action should be to snatch defeat from its jaws. They have brought forth a spending bill for 2015 that gives President Obama almost everything he wants, while disenfranchising the very voters who delivered the GOP victory. The $1.014 trillion Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2015, (HR 83), has been dubbed “CROmnibus” as it is a combined continuing resolution (CR)[1] and Omnibus spending bill. It will provide full funding for 11 of the 12 annual appropriations bills to the end of FY 2015 (September 30th), and a short term continuing resolution to February 27 for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). 'Fool Me Twice, Shame on Me' - American Thinker - As the vote on the Rule to bring the $1-trillion-plus funding bill to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives was about to start yesterday, I and many of my fellow conservatives were still burning up the phone lines to Republicans, saying “NO”! Minutes later, Congressman Wittman was one of those who voted in favor of the Rule that allowed the bloated Cromnibus bill to come to the floor for a vote. Hours later, when the vote on the actual funding bill took place, lo and behold! Congressman Wittman was a changed man. He voted against the trillion-dollar monstrosity. Now, he can tell his constituents in Virginia’s First District that he opposed the bill that will fund Obama’s executive amnesty more generously than Obama ever hoped for, as well as provide continued funds for Obamacare. By the end of February, which is when the funding for Homeland Security will be up for another vote, Obama will have the amnesty process well in place, and we will be told that it is impossible to retrench. Wittman, and the other 50 Republican congressmen who voted for the Rule to allow the Cromnibus bill to come to a vote (at which time they knew that enough Democrats would support it, so they could vote “no”), think we are stupid. They think we still don’t understand how Congress works so that their sleights of hand will confuse and bedazzle us. Congressman Wittman is not alone in practicing this chicanery. His office just happened to give us a really clear example of it. The other 50 representatives who voted like him are just as guilty. There are articles all over the media naming the 16 Heroes of the House (h/t Redstate), who really meant their opposition and meant to keep the bill from being passed. There are also numerous listings of the 67 who voted against the Cromnibus once it came to the floor. Take a look and see if your representative is on both lists or only on the latter. If he or she voted “no” only on the second vote, don’t let him or her fool you again. Heroes of the House  Amash of Michigan,  Bachmann of Minnesota, Brat of  Virgina, Brooks Alabama,  Broun of Georgia,  Gohmert of TExas, Gosar of Arizona, Huelskamp of Kansas, Jones of North Carolina, Jordan of Ohio, King of Iowa,Labrador of Idah, Massie of Kentucky, Posey of Florida, Salmon of Arizona, Stockman of Texas.  Note: Robert Hurt Voted 'Yes' on the Rule's Vote, which allowed the CROmnibus bill to be brought to the floor, then voted 'No' on the CROmnibus bill.

#8 - Immigration - Ten Arguments Against Obama's Executive Action - American Thinker (2) VIDEO: Jonathan Gruber Makes His Debut in a Political Ad - American Thinker (3) Obamacare's Facebook Page is a Sham Too - Breitbart (4) Virginia School Board Association Wants to Adopt Common Core - The Virginia Free Citizen

Ten Arguments Against Obama's Executive Action - American Thinker - Understanding why pending executive action by President Obama on immigration, residency, and citizenship are objectionable, imprudent, and unconstitutional – and what can be done legally and politically about them, if he proceeds – requires a snapshot of history and law. Ten arguments stand between the president and such bold, unilateral actions. First, executive directives of all kinds – and some have been creative – started with George Washington. They are theoretically justified by the indeterminate “executive powers” vested in each commander in chief by Article II of the U.S. Constitution.  Read more.......

Jonathan Gruber Makes His Debut in a Political Ad - American Thinker - Thanks to the Louisiana run-off election in December, Jonathan Gruber has made his debit in political advertising (hat tip: Instapundit). You can be certain that the nine Democrat senators up for re-election in 2016 [Michael Bennet (Colorado), Richard Blumenthal (Connecticut), Barbara Boxer (California), Patrick Leahy (Vermont), Barbara Mikulski (Maryland), Patty Murray (Washington), Harry Reid (Nevada), Brian Schatz (Hawaii), Charles Schumer (New York), Ron Wyden (Oregon)]are paying attention and shuddering. #7 - Virginia Senate Race - GOP Wave? Ed Gillespie Closes to Within 4 Points of Mark Warner in New Poll - Virginia Right (2) Ed Gillespie Offers a Credible Obamacare Alternative - Real Clear Markets (3) Obama's Trashing of the Economy by the Numbers - Redstate (4) Coca Cola's Anti-Religious Positions - Redstate

****GET OUT THE VOTE RALLY**** - MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2014 - 3:00 - 4:00 PM, Albemarle GOP Headquarters, 455 Albemarle Square, Charlottesville.

(1) GOP Wave? Ed Gillespie Closes to Within 4 Points of Mark Warner in New Poll - Virginia Right - Vox Populi has released a new poll that shows Virginia Senator Mark Warner in serious trouble with his once substantiallead in the polls now down to just 4 points. Even without this poll added into the mix yet, Mark Warner has gone from a “Safe Democrat” seat to a “Likely Democrat” winner and now Real Clear Politics classifies Virginia as “leans Democrat”. A Christopher Newport University poll released 3 days ago showed Warner’s lead cut to 7 points. And now it is down to 4. That is solid movement away from the Warner / Obama liberal side of the road. If Gillespie wins on Tuesday it will be indicate a massive wave for the Republicans. And the polls in Virginia are among the earliest closers, so this is a race to pay close attention to on Election Day. Read more......

(2) Ed Gillespie Offers a Credible Obamacare Alternative - Real Clear Politics - Ed Gillespie, the Republican candidate for Senate in Virginia, stands out the most among the GOP candidates for offering a detailed alternative to the ACA that he can credibly argue would outperform the ACA in several important ways. The Gillespie plan, which is modeled on the reform proposal developed by the 2017 Project (a group dedicated to advancing a new conservative reform agenda), has several key features. First, it would not disrupt job-based insurance. This is important because there are about 160 million people in employer-sponsored plans, and most workers like their current coverage. They favor reform, but only if it does not upend what they already have and want to keep. The only change Gillespie recommends for employer plans is a new upper limit on the federal tax preference for such plans. Read more.......

(3) Obama's Trashing of the Economy by the Numbers - Redstate - As you head to the polls next week, ask yourself that quintessential political question: are you better off today than you were 2, 4, or 6 years ago? Hell, are you better off today than you were last year? For the overwhelming majority of Americans the answer is a resounding no. Though the administration likes to highlight good economic news (remember Recovery Summer) they can only do so by carefully choosing benchmarks against some unique point in the past. When you look at Obama’s overall stewardship of the American economy — let’s not even talk about foreign policy where he has reduced decades of carefully cultivated alliances into a steaming shambles — it has been little short of disastrous. In fact, it is so bad that even the Brits have noticed. From a Telegraph article titled Life under Obama sucks. And these numbers prove it, here are the high points: Read more, see Charts ..........

(4) Coca Cola's Anti-Religious Positions - Redstate - Yesterday, Houston Mayor Annise Parker had to withdraw her subpoenas to Christian pastors in Houston. The mayor demanded several pastors turn over the text of their sermons if those sermons mentioned homosexuality, gay marriage, the mayor, etc. Turns out the Coca-Cola Company’s Nonpartisan Committee for Good Government gave Mayor Parker’s campaign $1000.00. But that’s not the only time Coca-Cola has supported bigotry toward religious adherents in the country. Read more........
